La presencia de una masa crítica femenina en los principales puestos legislativos de los países pertenecientes al continente americano ha presentado un aumentado sostenido en los últimos 20 años; esto ha sido en gran parte gracias a acciones específicamente orientadas a la inclusión, las cuales fueron impulsadas por activistas políticos y finalmente adoptadas en el ordenamiento jurídico de cada país. Sin embargo, América sigue presentando importantes desigualdades en cuanto al acceso a oportunidades en el ámbito político.
En el presente informe se indagará sobre las principales políticas de inclusión implementadas en América, cuanto falta para alcanzar la igualdad y como se encuentra, en líneas generales, la paridad en términos de género en el continente.
About the report
The presence of a critical mass of women in the main legislative positions of the Americas has presented a sustained increase in the last 20 years; this has been largely thanks to actions specifically oriented to inclusion, which were promoted by political activists and finally adopted in the legal system of each country. However, America continues to face significant inequalities regarding the access to opportunities in the political arena.
This report will examine the main policies of inclusion implemented by each country in the Americas, how much is missing to achieve equality and what is the continent´s situation in terms of gender parity.
